According to our research, a lack of energy (74%), stress (57%) and a lack of time (49%) are the main culprits. The results were broadly consistent across all age groups but, notably, stress was a more significant barrier for the youngest group of 18-24 years (63%); perhaps interestingly, a lack of desire outweighed a lack of time for the over 45’s (56% vs. 40%). 74% 57% 49% barriers to intimacy If so many of us are seeking more physical intimacy in our relationships, what is it that’s holding us back? LACK OF ENERGY STRESS LACK OF TIME The survey data suggests that the varying impact these factors have on different age groups is underpinned by their relationship with technology… Overall, a quarter (25%) of Brits admit that their phone/TV/laptop distracts them from being intimate with their partner.
