As a leader in informal, student-centered education, the Louisville Zoo is poised to assist teachers as they transition away from their current teaching practices and toward new strategies developed to support higher-order thinking among students. As research shows, science learning is enhanced when it originates within the student and occurs organically once they are inspired to know more. In consultation with the Conservation Science Teacher Advisory Team, the Zoo has designed classroom resources for teachers that align with this student-empowering approach — an approach that’s at the very heart of STEM learning.
