Record Turnout, Lasting Impact:
The 16th Annual Doctor’ s Cup Golf Scramble was one for the history books! Held Sept. 28 at Hurstbourne Country Club, this year’ s event brought together a record-breaking 30 teams and 120 golfers – the largest field in Doctor’ s Cup history – for a beautiful day on the course and an even greater cause.
Under sunny skies and near-perfect fall weather, physicians, business leaders and community supporters gathered for a day of friendly competition, fellowship and fun, all while helping invest in the future of medicine. The historic turnout was a fitting celebration of the Doctor’ s Cup’ s 16th year and the incredible generosity that has fueled its success since the tournament began in 2010.
This year, 10 medical students were selected to receive $ 12,500 scholarships to help support their medical education: Elizabeth Baier, Tyson Davies, Addison Johnson-Hernandez, Nada Kassieh, Shelby Lands, Emma Olmstead, Tanner Adams, Seth Drey, Michaela Reinhart
2026 Doctor’ s Cup by Kathryn Vance and Zoe Lung. With this year’ s awards, the Doctor’ s Cup has now provided scholarships to 108 students and contributed an impressive $ 858,000 toward medical education over the past 16 years.
Of course, the day wouldn’ t be complete without a little friendly competition. The UofL Health Eye Institute, Department of Ophthalmology took home third place, while Pinnacle Financial Partners finished second. UofL Health Sports Medicine claimed the top spot as the 2026 Doctor’ s Cup champions with Neil Patil, MD, Alex Carrasquer, MD, Andy Swiergosz, MD, and Alaina Schmitt making up the winning team.
The beautiful day, enthusiastic field and generous support made the 16th annual tournament one to remember. As the Doctor’ s Cup continues to grow, so does its impact – helping make a difference in the lives of medical students and strengthening the future of healthcare in our community. Here’ s to another memorable Doctor’ s Cup in the books – and many more to come!
