Ethical Affairs Committee
The Ethical Affairs Committee( EAC) is established to promote and support the highest standards of professional ethics within the Greater Louisville Medical Society. Under the bylaws, the EAC is composed of nine Active members and one In-Training member, with members serving staggered three-year terms. The committee may also include additional members appointed by the GLMS President for a one-year term.
The EAC is responsible for reviewing relevant AMA and KMA policies, developing policies for consideration by the
Board of Governors and promoting adherence to professional ethical standards. When appropriate, the committee may consult community representatives and meets as needed. Matters considered by the EAC are treated confidentially, with names kept anonymous whenever possible.
While the EAC is not currently active, its inclusion in the GLMS bylaws reflects the organization’ s commitment to maintaining an organized framework for thoughtful, confidential and professionally grounded consideration of ethical issues whenever necessary.
