United We Rise: GLMS Delegates Drive Change at KMA Annual Meeting
Physicians from across Kentucky came together August 22-23 for the 2026 Kentucky Medical Association( KMA) Annual Meeting for two days of connection, collaboration, advocacy and meaningful conversations about the future of healthcare.
This year’ s meeting was centered on the theme“ Kentucky Physicians: At the Heart of Impact,” a message that recognizes the many ways physicians create meaningful change every day. Impact does not always come from a single defining moment. Instead, it is built through the consistent decisions physicians make in caring for patients, advocating for their profession and leading within their communities. The Annual Meeting provided an opportunity to celebrate that impact while also looking ahead to the challenges and opportunities facing Kentucky healthcare.
GLMS Delegates were especially impactful at this year’ s meeting, playing an instrumental role in shaping the future of healthcare in Kentucky. The Delegates worked to advance policies that reflect the needs of physicians and the patients they serve. Their efforts resulted in nine GLMS resolutions being successfully adopted into KMA policy. The adopted resolutions include:
1. |
Lipoprotein( a) Screening and Insurance Coverage |
2. |
Expanding Access to Continuous Glucose Monitoring |
3. |
Mandatory Transparency and Data Disclosure in Algorithmic |
Claims Adjudication |
4. |
Protecting Physicians from Proprietary Clinical Artificial |
Intelligence Liability |
5. |
Preservation of Physician-Led Patient Care |
6. |
Protecting Physician-Led Interventional Pain Medicine |
7. |
Strengthening Patient Transparency through the Truth in |
Healthcare Professional Services Act |
8. Preserving Clinical Autonomy in Corporate & Private Equity-Owned Practices 9. Achieving Equitable, Affordable, Efficient Healthcare
This accomplishment is a testament to the hard work, preparation and dedication of the Delegates who represented GLMS throughout the meeting. Each adopted resolution represents an opportunity to elevate issues important to physicians and patients and to ensure that the perspectives of Louisville-area physicians are part of the broader conversation about healthcare in Kentucky.
These successes also highlight the importance of physician engagement. Meaningful change requires physicians to step forward, share their experiences and participate in conversations that ultimately influence healthcare policy. By bringing their knowledge and firsthand experiences to the table, GLMS Delegates helped ensure that the voice of physicians remained central to discussions about the future of healthcare.
This work embodies the 2026 GLMS theme,“ United We Rise – In Voice and Purpose.” When physicians unite around a shared purpose, their collective voice becomes an even more powerful tool for advocacy and change. The resolutions adopted at this year’ s meeting demonstrate what can be accomplished when physicians work together to identify challenges, develop solutions and advocate for meaningful improvements.
But still, the work continues. The policies adopted will help guide KMA’ s advocacy efforts and provide a foundation for continued engagement on issues affecting physicians and patients across Kentucky.
GLMS extends its sincere gratitude to all of the Delegates who represented Louisville at the 2026 KMA Annual Meeting. Their time, dedication and willingness to advocate on behalf of their colleagues and patients made a lasting impact.
