In Remembrance John F.( Jack) Yusk, MD April 3, 1941- March 6, 2026
Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Jack grew up in Ashland City and Dickson, Tennessee. Following high school at Columbia Military Academy in Tennessee, he graduated from Vanderbilt University. He then maintained his Tennessee roots by graduating from the University of Tennessee Medical School, where he also completed his pediatric residency.
Following residency, Jack moved his family to Fort Knox, Kentucky for his military service in 1969. While at Fort Knox, he was contacted by Drs. Richard Wolf and Louis Kahle, who needed vacation coverage in their Louisville pediatric office. This proved fortuitous for all concerned. After his Army discharge in 1971, he then joined Drs. Wolf and Kahle in practice. They were later joined by Dr. Sandra Johnson.
The pediatric practice thrived. They managed to be available to their patients for after-hours and weekend emergency calls, in part by combining after-hours coverage with Drs. Nicholas Glazer and Glenn Stoutt.
Jack retired from practice in 2004 following a diagnosis of multiple myeloma. Fortunately, with the help of Drs. Geetha Joseph in Louisville and Seema Singhal at Northwestern in Chicago, he survived very well for 22 years.
When not practicing pediatrics, Jack pursued his love of sports. He was an avid golfer, skier and tennis player. He also loved to travel with his wife Peggy and enjoyed reading. He was an active member of Christ Church United Methodist for many years, where he sang in the choir and taught Sunday School.
He is survived by his wife Margaret( Peggy), two children, six stepchildren, five grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren. Two of his grandsons are carrying on his medical legacy … one is in medical school and the other is a pre-medical student, both at the University of Kentucky.

Jack was beloved by the myriad pediatric patients and their parents for whom he cared. Years later following retirement, he was still greeted fondly by many former patients.
