Physician voice belongs in the community, not only the clinic. Environmental pollution and health disparities across race and ZIP code are outcomes we observe daily. Speaking up in community forums, at city council and in the pages of this magazine are part of what it means to be a physician here. GLMS is committed to engaging in environmental health, health equity and the upstream policy decisions that determine our patients’ health long before they see us. This is not a distraction from medicine. It is medicine’ s most important work. solicit input rather than ratify decisions already made.
