closely, ready to adopt psychedelic-assisted treatments as they earn FDA approval. Their commitment to accepting most major insurance plans is deliberate, as they fundamentally believe advanced care should be available to anyone who needs it and patients should focus on getting better, not concerned about insurance.
“ It was a win-win,” he said.“ We get to do what we’ re passionate about, and Louisville really has a gap in these treatments and needs more of this.” The move has also allowed him to reconnect with a familial identity.
“ It goes back to being the‘ younger Dr. Roth.’ There are still people who know my dad and his reputation, he did amazing things for the community,” he said.“ But now this is a chance for me to take on that mantle and do something substantial for our community. It’ s my turn.”
As construction continues on his new practice, set to open this August, he remains focused on a single goal: helping people rediscover hope. His vision is a welcoming environment where patients feel safe exploring treatments that may initially seem intimidating.“ I want people to know that even if they have been hopeless and struggled for months or years, they can have a renewed sense of hope and a chance to thrive again.”
The stories that inspire him are often simple. He’ ll see patients who arrive barely functioning; patients who have run out of options; patients who are simply trying to make it through another day. Then, weeks later, something changes.
“ Within two weeks they’ re starting to get motivated again and be optimistic again. Within four weeks they’ re doing stuff again. By six weeks they’ ve signed up for dance classes or are kayaking again.”
For a physician who has spent his career helping people navigate life’ s most difficult moments, those victories never get old.“ You see them come back to life in such a short period of time,” he said.“ And it’ s so fulfilling.”
After a journey that stretched from Louisville to Honolulu, across the Pacific and back again, Dr. David Roth has returned home carrying new tools, new experiences and a renewed mission.
The younger Dr. Roth is back. And he’ s bringing hope with him.
