A Sunny Success: 15th Annual Doctor’ s Cup Golf Scramble Awards $ 125,000
by Kathryn Vance
The 15th Annual GLMS Foundation Doctor’ s Cup golf scramble was a resounding success, bringing together physicians, medical students and supporters for a day of camaraderie, competition and celebration of the next generation of physicians. Held under beautiful sunny skies, the event saw 27 teams take to the greens, enjoying a perfect day of golf while supporting a meaningful cause.
This year, the Foundation proudly awarded $ 125,000 in scholarships to 10 outstanding University of Louisville School of Medicine students. These awards recognize the dedication, perseverance and commitment to excellence of students as they prepare to embark on their careers in medicine. The Doctor’ s Cup remains a cornerstone event in the GLMS Foundation calendar, highlighting the community’ s commitment to fostering the professional development of future physicians.
The 2025 scholarships were awarded to the following deserving fourth-year medical students: Olivia Bosch, John Davis, Logan Davis, Braden Fairbanks, Thomas Hislope, Caroline Hourigan, Grae McCarty, Cathy Spencer, Kylie Stava and Lily Wilding.
Each of these fourth-year students exemplifies the qualities that will make them exceptional physicians: intellectual curiosity, compassion and a commitment to serving others.
The team in third place was sponsored by UofL Orthopedic and Sports Medicine. The second-place team was sponsored by UofL Health Ophthalmology. The team coming in first place was sponsored by Republic Bank & Trust with Dr. Sean Francis, David Buchanon, Eric Evans and Tim Wesley.
The GLMS Foundation extends heartfelt thanks to the sponsors whose generosity made this event possible. Their support ensures that medical students can pursue their education with fewer financial barriers and continue the journey to becoming tomorrow’ s health care leaders.
As the Foundation looks toward next year, the commitment to supporting the next generation of physicians remains stronger than ever. Thank you again to all who sponsored or played in this year’ s tournament. We look forward to seeing you again next year on Monday, Sept. 28, 2026!
