idating began to feel like home.
Then, in 2016, life changed once again. We welcomed our daughter into the world, right here in Louisville. I was a new mother, completing the final year of my fellowship, juggling sleepless nights, professional responsibilities and the emotional weight of doing everything for the first time. I was exhausted, overwhelmed and unsure how I would manage it all.
Once again, I turned to an old friend: the Louisville Lady Docs community. These women helped me find an OB-GYN who was willing to accommodate my demanding fellowship schedule. They guided me in choosing a pediatrician. They answered questions, some medical, some maternal, all deeply personal. They showed up in ways that extended far beyond a digital platform.
They were there, consistently and compassionately.
When I first arrived in Louisville in 2014, my plan was simple: complete my fellowship and move on. This city was meant to be temporary – a steppingstone, not a destination.
But life had other plans. Today, I am still here. I have built a home.
I have formed lasting friendships. I have created memories rooted in this community.
Louisville is no longer just a place on my professional timeline. It is where my life unfolded, where my family grew and where I found belonging when I needed it most.
I am now an active member of this community. Yet, when I reflect on my journey, I can say with pride and gratitude that my very first friend in Louisville was not a person I met in a hallway or an office, but a group of women on social media.
Social media can amplify noise, misinformation and division. But it can also build bridges, foster support and create genuine human connection. My story is proof that sometimes, behind a screen, there is kindness waiting to reach you.
Perhaps social media is neither a curse nor a boon, but a tool. And in the right hands, at the right moment, it can change a life.
