And travel , he does – mostly with his wife and daughters . He met his wife Payal at a wedding years ago where they talked briefly for maybe five minutes . Later , their friends reintroduced them and they talked online for six months as she was living in Dallas , Texas . They dated for another six months before getting married , and here they are 21 years later . Payal has her master ’ s degree in finance and manages Dr . Pancholi ’ s father ’ s Subway business .
Their older daughter , Tanisha , is a senior at duPont Manual , currently in the process of applying to college . She started flying at eight years old and will have her private pilot license when she turns 17 . Their younger daughter , Aarya , is in sixth grade at Noe Middle School and is a talented pianist and soccer player .
The whole family gets in on their travel adventures and loves spending time outdoors . Once a year , they will go to a national park , this past year being a trip to Joshua Tree . They also take time at home to hike Jefferson Memorial Forest , the Parklands of Floyds Fork and Red River Gorge . They also enjoy international travel and will go on those trips every other year ; 2024 was a marvelous trip to Turkey . Dr . Pancholi also still gets together with three medical school classmates , and each year they set out for a new , challenging hike somewhere in the U . S . Last year they did Humphrey ’ s Peak , the highest point in Arizona at 13,000 feet up . Next year , they ’ re heading to a bucket list place : Havasu Falls .
because of the opportunity his aunt and uncle afforded them with a safe place to land in the U . S ., and for the challenges that his parents faced as they created a new life for their family . Staying grounded and connected to where you come from are both of utmost importance .
“ I saw my parents struggle , and because of that , I learned how to struggle . I remember when my mom was washing dishes at Mc- Donald ’ s and my dad was a waiter . But we all give the best possible to our kids . My kids may not wash dishes at McDonald ’ s , but we made sure that they worked at Subway and cleaned bathrooms to learn what struggle is . I think everyone should know where they come from and keep their foot on the ground .”
Who knew that fresh baked bread smell at Subway could have such profound lessons ?
