EMBRACING CHANGE

education . While attending the 2023 AAMC Annual Meeting in Seattle , we heard from Dr . Andrew Wong , Internal Medicine Clinical Instructor and Research Fellow at the University of Michigan , who memorably said , “ The industry will drive technological advancement if physicians do not learn about AI . AI has the potential to be used for immense good or incredible harm to our patients , and it is up to us to ensure we do it right .”
We challenge ourselves as future doctors to avoid apathy as AI becomes increasingly integrated into health care and adapt to lead health care teams that utilize augmented intelligence . Throughout change , we remain steadfast in our central mission — the care of the patient . By embracing technological advancements while staying true to the core principles of medicine , we hope to improve patient outcomes with innovative treatments and ensure a bright future for health care professionals and patients in the new era of artificial intelligence .
