( continued from page 35 ) his sister Trisha is a sophomore at DuPont Manual High School and has been a trained dancer for the last 12 years . This summer , she celebrated her graduation in traditional Indian dance in the Arangetram ceremony . In the world of Bharatanatyam , the three-hour solo dance is the debut performance of a dancer , marking the completion of their training and the beginning of their career as a professional dancer .
She started her dance journey under her mom Smitha and achieved this great success through much hard work . Smitha runs a dance school in Louisville and is a performer , choreographer and instructor . Smitha serves as a dance faculty and has performed internationally . Smitha was also recently named a ‘ Kentucky Colonel ’ by the Commonwealth of Kentucky . Much of what Dr . Paily and Smitha loved about Louisville when they selected our city was the diverse and friendly atmosphere and rich culture of arts , music , and festivals .
For 11 years Smitha ’ s Natya Kendra Dance Academy ( with much help from Dr . Paily himself ) has put on a program annually to raise money for the Crusade for Children , for children with special needs During the program , the student dancers are able to present the funds raised to the Crusade for Children CEO directly .
“ We want to impart this idea of kids giving back to kids in the community with whatever talents and blessings you have . We want to teach the younger generation that it ’ s important to give back to the community .”
Community service and giving back takes up a great deal of space in Dr . Paily ’ s heart and in his calendar . He currently serves on the GLMS Board and the KMA Gun Violence Task Force . He is also involved with the Indian Community Foundation and is on their Board for many years . He also enjoys traveling with his wife and kids and has been all over the world . They make sure to get back home to India at least once a year for traditions and family time .
Moving forward , Dr . Paily wants to continue to provide the kind of high-quality care that he saw exemplified in his father ’ s practice so many years ago . He wants to provide for his family and make them proud every day .
“ I don ’ t have any plans for retirement or moving to Florida or anything like that ,” he laughed . “ But I recognize the importance of having a healthy work-life balance . I want to continue to deliver the highest quality of care while also having the highest quality , most meaningful life .”
