Legislative Reception Kicks Off Month of Advocacy Efforts
At the annual Legislative Reception on February 6 , GLMS physicians invited state legislators and Metro Council members to Angel ’ s Envy Distillery to have important discussions about health care issues affecting people in our Commonwealth . With prior authorization exemptions at the forefront of many conversations , this gave our physicians the opportunity to gather in person and share their firsthand experiences .
This event was just the start of a monthlong push during this legislative session – GLMS physician leaders and University of Louisville School of Medicine students also made the journey to Frankfort on February 21 for the annual Physicians ’ Day at the Capitol . Racing around the Capitol Annex , GLMS members met with more than 10 state legislators in under three hours , focused on sharing impactful stories of the detrimental effects that prior authorization can have on patient care .
