“ We play a lot of board games at the house . When he was younger , his brothers would take him out to shoot dice , and he got very good at it . So much so that when we play Monopoly , all he rolls are doubles ,” she said . “ He ’ s always around the board before everyone else and he always gets sent to jail but can ’ t get out of jail because all he ’ s rolling is doubles . He always wins , though , because he can get around the board and buy properties before everyone else . It ’ s so bad that the kids feel sorry for me , and they make me deals .”
They also enjoy entertaining friends and have a close-knit group both back in Mississippi and locally , including their church family at Bates Memorial .
In the future , Dr . Beacham hopes to one day own his own practice . He also looks forward to watching his kids grow and succeed and hopes to be more intentional with his time with family .
In talking with Drew , it ’ s clear that Dr . Beacham cares deeply for his family , friends and patients . She shared that when they were in Greenville , she ’ d see other physicians at home with their families
while they were eating dinner without him . She ’ d often have people stop her around town , telling her how he was the first physician to ever listen to them . As a rule , he doesn ’ t chart while the patient is in the room , he makes sure to look them in the eye and talk to them , showing them they ’ re more than “ just another person ” even if that means getting home for dinner a few minutes late . She attributes this to his passion for helping his patients and making sure to listen to their stories and their needs .
“ What I think is unique about him is that he won ’ t give up on anybody or anything . He ’ s a fighter . That ’ s just what he does ,” she said . “ He ’ s a fighter for his patients especially , he will listen to them and do all he can to help them . I ’ ve never thought for two seconds that there ’ s a problem professionally or personally he can ’ t or won ’ t solve .”
