2022 PRESIDENT ’ S CELEBRATION

by KATHRYN VANCE

At our first major in-person event since the beginning of the pandemic , GLMS members and staff enjoyed an evening of fun and laughter at Lynn Family Stadium on May 21 , 2022 , at this year ’ s President ’ s Celebration . The gathering welcomed Dr . Valerie Briones-Pryor as the newest President of GLMS and honored the year of service from outgoing President Dr . Brian Sosnin and outgoing Board Chair Dr . Monalisa Tailor .

During her presidential address , Dr . Briones-Pryor applauded the great work that has taken place over the past two years at GLMS and emphasized the need to look to the future as we embark on a rigorous strategic planning process over the next few years ( for the full plan , see page 5 ).
“ We ’ re looking at how GLMS can be of value to all physicians in our community , regardless of employment , position or time in life . We want to serve all our physicians , whether it be the practicing
24 LOUISVILLE MEDICINE physician , the administrative physician , the retired physician , the newly graduated resident and even the medical student .”
GLMS is nothing without you , our members . In the current health care environment , physicians need more from their organized medicine than ever before . She will focus on your needs and wants to get to know members on a more personal level , outside practice walls . She plans to work with GLMS staff to host other events throughout the year focusing on members and their families and meeting you where you are .
She closed her remarks with a song she often plays when running : The Climb by Miley Cyrus .
“ I look forward to taking this journey , this climb , with all of you .”
