Awarded five grants for a total of $ 127,500 . Recipients included SOS , St . James School , SPAVA , The Kentucky Science Center , and the Boys and Girls Haven . We supported highly worthwhile projects to improve community health and wellness including the following : equipped a local school with smart fitness watches for students to participate in a new program to improve their health and wellness and track results ; provided a large grant of $ 100,000 to the local Kentucky Science Center for a new forthcoming exhibit designed to support and foster personal development , self-awareness and mental health in our community ; and provided funding to bring new resources and a transformation to an outdoor garden area at the Boys and Girls Haven to equip children with life skills while developing an appreciation for the consumption of fresh produce , outdoor exercise and sweat equity .

Community Health & Wellness Committee This group focuses on issues pertaining to our neighbors and the community at large , focusing on initiatives such as food drives , coordinating mobile clinics with hospital partners and grant development .
Physician Health & Wellness Committee This group looks for initiatives to educate and support our members in a variety of ways , including the Physician Wellness Program , family wellness events and the previously recorded Wellness Wednesday Webinars .
Medical Student Wellness Ambassadors We know that as a medical student , your schedule is busy and your time is valuable , but that doesn ’ t mean you can ’ t be involved and share your gift as a future physician . We ’ re looking for those who want to help us spread the word , make connections and give their time and talent to our mission .
