( continued from page 29 ) hospitals and community health centers , doctors ’ offices , etc . will no longer be reimbursed for Covid testing and the administration costs for Covid vaccines , or the treatment costs for the uninsured . 4 This dealt a huge blow to large swathes of the U . S . whose citizens are dependent on safety-net care , including our own LouVax operation and every area hospital system .
If we had a government focused on the needs of its citizens , as opposed to the wealth of its richest and the power of its leaders - we ’ d have had an option for national health insurance for all many , many years ago . The Affordable Care Act is a good step in that direction but was not an adequate one when faced with the lethal disaster of COVID-19 . Just imagine if all of us had been registered with a national health system at birth : contact tracing would have been so much easier , reaching out to the sick so much more streamlined . In the beginning , we had no vaccines , just supportive care . More people might have lived - signed up already with some doc or ARNP - with faster , more accurate evaluations and care .
Americans are a selfish bunch . We complain bitterly over gas prices even though we are safe in our homes , no warplanes strafing us . We are so far unbombed , unmolested and ungrateful for the blessings we have . But if Civica Rx can pull this off : I expect thank you notes to them from every nurse and doctor in the country . Gratitude is our attitude . For once , we ’ ll be able to help people without bearing the guilty burden of that cost .
