Steven Heatherly , MD
Dr . Heatherly sees patients at the Baptist Health Louisville Heart Failure Clinic , providing expert care to patients diagnosed with heart failure . The Baptist Health Louisville Heart Failure Clinic was the first in the nation to receive heart failure accreditation for outpatient services from the American College of Cardiology , and strives to help patients and their families understand their condition and provide the best treatment possible .
Our team of experienced clinicians not only provides outstanding patient care , but are also conducting clinical research studies to improve the future of heart care . These research studies include STEP HFpEF and STEP HFpEF DM , which evaluate the effect of weekly injections of semaglutide or placebo on physical function , body weight and symptoms in people with heart failure , obesity and diabetes to determine if there is a positive effect on their physical function , quality of life and weight loss .
Passionate about improving heart failure care through multidisciplinary , evidence-based methods , Dr . Heatherly also believes health systems should strive to be culturally sensitive , eliminate disparities , and address social determinants of health that lead to gaps in care . “ I am convinced that a biopsychosocial approach to heart failure is the future ,” he said . “ We have to meet patients and their families where they are , all while soliciting their goals of care .”
