INTRODUCING BRIAN SOSNIN , DO
Introducing Brian Sosnin , DO 2021 - 2022 GLMS President
AUTHOR Lisa Sosnin , BSN , RN
There are a few times in a person ’ s life when they meet someone who lives out what they say and says what they mean . My husband , Barry Brian Sosnin , Jr ., is such a person . I first met my husband in Prestonsburg , a small town in Eastern Kentucky . He was completing his residency at Highlands Regional Medical Center , and I was in my last year of nursing school . One of the first things I noticed about him was that he listened intently to what I had to say . He valued my opinion and appreciated my point of view . If I presented him with a problem , he would almost always provide a well thought out solution . I could trust him to keep his word , and in a world where trusting someone can be difficult , Brian made trusting easy .

When the recruiter gave him potential job choices in the military , his decision was an easy one . He became a combat medic : not just any medic , but an airborne infantry medic . Brian learned early on to “ take that leap of faith ” when helping others .
One of his first assignments in the military was in the fight against General Manuel Antonio Noriega Moreno in the US invasion of Panama known as Operation Just Cause . As a medic , he helped his fellow soldiers survive the jungles of Panama and bring General Noriega to justice . After completing his active-duty obligation , he joined the Kentucky Army National Guard ( KYARNG ) and enrolled at UofL , where he earned his BS degree in biology . He took on a characteristic leadership role there , founding the first university-based Optimist Club in the country , with the help and
