GLMS was named one of Louisville Business First ’ s Best Places to Work in 2020 for the third year in a row . Just 41 companies scored high enough to be included in this group of honorees . With the transition to a work-from-home environment to keep staff and their families safe during the pandemic , GLMS made sure to emphasize employee physical and mental health . Extra wellness check-ins were added , and we made sure to continue beloved traditions ( virtually ) such as the annual Halloween costume contest .
MedCentral centralizes the primary source verification portion of the hospital credentialing process for the Greater Louisville area hospitals and ambulatory care centers and has done so for nearly 30 years . With the launch of the Med30 program in late 2019 , MedCentral can now process applications from start to finish in an average of 29 days , currently the only provider in the nation to offer this .
Throughout the month of February , GLMS physicians met virtually with Kentucky Senators and
Representatives to discuss this year ’ s legislative priorities for the Commonwealth . We hosted six “ Hill Visits ” and two Town Hall events with both Democrats and Republicans , allowing GLMS members to interact in small group settings with legislators . After our final event , one legislator commended this year ’ s efforts saying , “ Keep doing what you ’ re doing because it makes a difference .”
During the year , we hosted two KMA-accredited CME courses . The first was held in July and focused on resilience in the age of COVID-19 . This session explored how to recognize signs of burnout and how to care for your mental well-being during the challenging times of the pandemic . In early 2021 , we held a three-part series that discussed racial inequalities in medicine , looking at topics ranging from implicit bias , to health disparities , to social determinants of health .

Provider Enrollment services handles the initial enrollment of a new insurance provider for your practice and handles the accompanying administrative burdens that may arise during this process . This year , Provider Enrollment services saved practices a total of 700 hours . Additionally , practices that used our Annual Maintenance and Revalidation services saved an average of 16 additional hours of staff time per provider by trusting us to keep their provider directories and revalidation requests up-to-date .
We are committed to keeping our members informed and up-to-date at all times . At the onset of the pandemic , GLMS introduced a page on our website dedicated solely to COVID-19 updates on both the local and national levels . In addition , we also sent several reports to membership on behalf of the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness with updates on COVID-19 guidance , special Q & A sessions with the Director and resources to help practices in need .
It is of utmost importance that we show how much we value our GLMS members and what you do for our community . Because of this , GLMS has not raised member dues in 19 years . This year , we took on three new business partners , allowing us to keep your dues low and provide you with a myriad of member-exclusive benefits such as legislative leadership opportunities , community committee participation , networking with local physicians and more ( see page 8 for more details on this ).
