IN REMEMBRANCE : JOHN GRISBY RIEHM , MD APRIL 8 , 1948-DEC . 13 , 2020
John Grigsby Riehm , MD passed away peacefully on Dec . 13 , 2020 with family by
his side . He was born April 8 , 1948 . He attended Catholic schools in Louisville and graduated from St . Xavier in 1966 . He then got a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering at the J . B . Speed School at the University of Louisville . He then went to medical school at UofL , followed by residency at the University of Cincinnati . He practiced allergy and immunology for 37 years , most recently with Family Allergy and Asthma . He had a great positive approach to his practice , and he could be heard laughing and joking with patients and associates while he worked . He seemed to thoroughly enjoy his work . John was a big , strong , athletic guy who excelled at golf and other sports and was an active participant in our occasional “ allergists versus dermatology ” basketball or golf outings . He had a positive effect , whatever he did .
He is survived by his wife , Rose ( 47 years ), and children Julie and Johnathan and three grandchildren . John was such an outgoing , optimistic and positive person . He had an influence on all those around him and he will be missed by family , friends , and certainly , the medical community . -Hobart Pence , MD
