eing a physician is a wonderful privilege and Sarah
and I both take it very seriously. We both work
incredibly hard,” said Dr. Jed Moyer. “As much
time as we dedicate to our work, the most im-
portant thing is our kids and our family. As long
as we keep that perspective, we’re doing okay.”
Drs. Sarah and Jed Moyer are raising four
children, all under age six, in their adopted home of Louisville, Ky.
Jed is a pediatric orthopedist at Norton Healthcare and Sarah is
the Director of the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health
and Wellness and the city’s Chief Health Strategist. She also holds
a faculty appointment at the UofL School of Public Health and

Jed and Sarah met while attending medical school at Temple
University in Philadelphia. “I sat next to Sarah in class,” said Jed.
“At first, we were just friends and we both hung out with the same
people, many of whom we still keep in touch with. By our second
year,” said Jed, “we started dating, and by our third year we were
engaged.”
“We had similar hobbies and ambitions. I was attracted to Jed’s
sincerity and loyalty to a true partnership,” said Sarah.
“At the risk of sounding cliché, Sarah is as beautiful on the inside
as she is on the outside,” said Jed. “She genuinely enjoys helping
