WEAR THE WHITE COAT
“One thing Dr. Tailor is very effective at is building a relationship with
her patients. One of the first patients of the day, I thought they’d
known each other for years. I learned after the fact that they’d met
just once about a year ago.
"I also learned just how much of a challenge physicians face on a
daily basis keeping patients from being their own worst enemies. You
can have a great relationship with a patient but, unless that person is
willing to really change their behavior, it may all be for naught."

“I really want to transfer this
experience to the community
I work with, so they may be
more empowered and more
knowledgeable when they make
that appointment.” - Janice Mulligan

“I’m so honored I was able to shadow Dr.
Williams. He is amazing, and not just in
the way he performs surgery, but how he
talks to his clients and their families. It’s
stunning to see all the surgeries he does
in one day, and he still finds time to talk
to the people in the waiting room and
ask if they have any questions. You get
great health care from Dr. Williams."
- Louisville Metro Councilwoman Paula McCraney –
Shadowed Dr. Russell Williams, General Surgeon
"We had a great day in the
office, and she got to experience
a variety of different patients.
She got to see how interesting
it can be to navigate some of
the challenges of primary care.
We got through everything with
grace. She is in pastoral care, so
I think there were a couple of
times she may have been praying
for me. The prayers worked, and
I really appreciated having this
experience with her."
- Dr. Brian Sosnin
“Dr. Couch practices medicine on the front lines with bombs exploding about
every 30 minutes. It was a fascinating day. We saw a microcosm of things that
have gone awry in our medical world and society.
It was fascinating to me to see Dr. Couch and his team respond to people
who don’t have primary care. Many can’t afford that luxury. He has to form a
relationship with some people he’s never seen and others he has seen over
and over and over again.
Dr. Couch has an entourage everywhere he goes. He was collaborative and he
consulted them. He listened to them. It was truly an interactive experience.
I think it was the height of what medical practice can be. I cannot thank you
enough.” - State Representative Maria Sorolis – Shadowed Dr. Robert Couch, Emergency Medicine
“It is refreshing to see the engagement of my participant and how she was
energized to tackle issues facing health care.” - Dr. Robert Couch
