GLMS UPDATES DURING COVID-19
PRACTICING PHYSICIANS
GLMS and the GLMS Foundation are hosting a personal protective equipment (PPE) drive to gather masks and gloves for health care
providers. Items must be new and unopened and can be donated by anyone in the community. These will be distributed by Louisville Metro
Public Health & Wellness. The process for requesting PPE can be found on the GLMS website, glms.org, on the COVID-19 Resources
page under the PPE section in a document titled “Local PPE Stockpile Release.”
We have collected various local and national resources and announcements to help guide physicians during this time. This valuable in-
formation can be found on the GLMS website, glms.org, by clicking the COVID-19 banner on the home page.
RETIRED PHYSICIANS
Retired physicians are encouraged to help facilitate prescription transfers to online pharmacies and coordinate medication delivery by
phone to those in quarantine and self-isolation. Only younger members are eligible to perform the actual deliveries. If you would like to
register to help with this, please sign up using the online form at https://bit.ly/2JpFrdp.
MEDICAL STUDENTS
Medical students are needed to pick up and deliver medicine by porch drop off to those in quarantine and self-isolation. To minimize
risks to our older members, only younger members are eligible for this volunteer opportunity. If you would like to register to help with
this, please sign up using the online form at https://bit.ly/2JpFrdp.
Kentucky Public Health Commissioner, Dr. Steven Stack, is calling on medical students to lend their skills in a variety of other tasks such
as specimen collection and basic medical support. For more information and to register, please visit ky.readyop.com/fs/4fDV/199d.
With the quickly changing landscape of COVID-19, we are utilizing digital communication for updates now more than ever. It is part of
our mission to ensure both independent and employed physicians are fully informed and united on important matters across all systems
and practices. If you have not been receiving GLMS email communication, please reach out to Kathryn Vance at kathryn.vance@glms.
org to update your email address and ensure that our messages are not being blocked.
