INTRODUCING MY DAD

M
y dad and I, like many fathers and sons, have always bonded over sports.
He took me to my first Louisville football game (where I promptly got
lost. Ask him about that next time you get the chance to talk to him!),
to my first NFL game, and numerous sporting events like the Masters,
NCAA tournament games, and NBA playoff games. All of these created
memories that I will carry with me fondly for the rest of my life. One
of the first things he taught me, at countless games, was to never be a
fair-weather fan; you support your team through good times and bad.
Loyalty and dedication are qualities that ring true with my father in every aspect of life,
whether he was taking me to a basketball game or helping me with my homework. It
is with this sense of dedication that he runs his ophthalmology practice. He dedicates
himself fully to his patients, wanting to always provide the highest level of care. When
my father would sit up late at night calling each of his patients individually to check
on them, I thought that was something that all doctors did. Ultimately, I realized
the attention and care my father provides for his patients is the exception, not the
norm. I have attempted to take these lessons and apply them in my own life. One of
the things that has always amazed me about my father is his dedication; to his craft,
his patients, and to his family. I know that as GLMS President, there will be no one
more intent, no one more committed to the position than my father. He has proven to
me, as my father, my role model and my best friend that nothing matters more than
remaining dedicated, devoted and loyal. I am proud of my dad, not for the things he
has accomplished or the success that he has had, but for being the most genuine and
sincere person I have ever met.
