(continued from page 19)
Of all my brother’s attributes, I am most proud of his principled
commitment to addressing the health challenges of people of color
and medically underserved communities of all races, ethnicities
and cultures. He brought this moral imperative that he associates
with his calling as a physician to his adopted hometown of Lou-
isville as demonstrated by his organizing The African-American
Health Initiative with the goal of improving the “health IQ” of
African Americans; serving on the Air Pollution Control Board,
which aligns with his passion as a cancer surgeon to prevent dis-
ease and promote health; participating on the Park Duvall Family
Health Center Board; and committed service on the Board of the
Louisville Metro Department of Health and Wellness. Of course,
Wayne is well known today for his producing and hosting of the
television show “Kentucky Health,” which airs on the KET network.

While practicing as a surgeon, advocating for the needs of
physicians, and achieving optimal health for all Kentuckians are
his professional passions, his relationship with his wife, Brenda;
son, Wayne Lee; and “adopted” son, James Clay, who has added so
much to the Tuckson family, together represent the centerpiece of
Wayne’s life. Simply put, Wayne married well. It is not surprising
that Brenda is as determined a health advocate for women with
breast cancer as Wayne is in his professional life. It is also not
surprising that Wayne Lee would take on his father’s interest in
athletic medicine to forge an exciting career as a strength and
weight coach at one of our country’s premier athletic programs.
As I close out this introduction to my brother, I would be remiss
in not mentioning that if you wanted to find my brother outside
of the hospital, you may well see him as the guy with the camera
at youth football games across Louisville. Just as his father was
a passionate sports photographer, so too is Wayne as he devotes
countless hours to capturing precious memories for hundreds of
children whom he does not personally know, but whose accom-
plishments he feels duty bound to record and share with families
as he weaves together a multicultural mosaic that represents the
true spirit of the great city of Louisville.
Dr. Tuckson has been very involved with
GLMS in the past years. Here he spoke to
UofL residents about business.
I am so proud of my “little” brother as a physician; as a husband
and father; and as a man of principle and integrity. Louisville, the
great state of Kentucky, and the Greater Louisville Medical Society
are fortunate to have Wayne as a leader during these challenging
times filled with glorious opportunity.
