“I was in the hospital, in clinic settings with residents and also
teaching medical students. It was an amazing experience, but I wasn’t
sure it was where I wanted to be.” She left her faculty position at the
University of Louisville wanting a change. She explored her options
and landed in primary care.
Dr. Tailor and Dr.
Stuart Urbach
Soon, Dr. Tailor found a way to become more involved with or-
ganized medicine than ever before. She became a frequent attendee
at GLMS Policy and Advocacy Team meetings, then became a
KMA Delegate. Today she sits on the GLMS Board of Governors
as Secretary and was recently nominated for and accepted into the
position of KMA Vice Speaker.
It doesn’t hurt that Dr. Tailor had rewarding internships for Sen.
Mitch McConnell and Congressman Brett Guthrie, whom she de-
scribes as one of the nicest people she’s ever met. “We don’t agree
on 100 percent of the issues but that’s okay. What matters is having
someone you can trust to vote your conscience.”
“I strongly believe in the collective voice of medicine,” Dr. Tailor
explained. “Advocating with legislators about health issues is so
important, in part because although we know our specialties are
different, the layperson does not. Working together and explaining
our world, our challenges, to lawmakers is essential.”
Today, Dr. Tailor has found a home at a Norton Community
Medical Associates-Barret. She started just a few months ago and
is meeting new patients each week.
In her free time, Dr. Tailor goes to concerts and festivals all over the
city. She creates her own artwork and is planning another marathon
in Memphis, followed by a half marathon back at Disney World.
After leaving the coffee shop, interview complete, Dr. Tailor
walked towards Market Street and NuLu to go shopping on her day
