ANNUAL REPORT GLMS Foundation 60th Anniversary It was a huge year for the GLMS Foundation as we said goodbye to Director Terry Todd and welcomed Ashley Cassetty to lead the organization into the future. This year marks the 60th an- niversary for the Foundation with exciting new initiatives to soon be launched. The GLMS Foundation Golf Scramble, which is entering its eighth year, has allowed the Foundation to award $173,000 in scholarships to medical students. Thank you to the physicians, health care organizations and local businesses which made these scholarships possible. This year’s scramble will take place at the Hurstbourne Country Club on Monday, September 24th. For more information on the amazing work done by the GLMS Foundation, contact Ashley Cassetty at 502-736-6356. Engagement and Outreach Surgery on Sunday Louisville has expanded its reach in 2017-2018, adding new programs in ophthalmology and expanding to new cities in Kentucky and Indiana. It also received help from an unexpected source as GLMS Vice President Dr. Frank Burns raised $43,043 for the program through the Dancing with Prospect Stars charity event. The Healing Place opened its new men’s campus in early 2018. While the campus is still under construction, it will add nearly 200 beds for Louisville residents struggling with addiction. The Healing Place recently hosted a successful Celebrate Freedom Dinner which raised $250,000 for the project. Supplies Over Seas continued its mission of bringing hundreds of tons of supplies to countries in need. Sadly, the founder of Supplies Over Seas, Dr. Norton Waterman, passed away in 2017. His memory was honored at the Health and Hope Breakfast on October 20. 24 LOUISVILLE MEDICINE
