I’ ve been in the Senate for 22 years and this is one of the most rewarding things I’ ve ever done. It was impressive. I want to thank the medical society for this privilege and I will encourage any of my colleagues to take advantage. The average surgery would take only 15 minutes. Dr. Burns also led me through some of the paperwork and impediments facing physicians today. Not that the extra work impacts the care of the patient, but it impacts all of the time surrounding that care. It was a very rewarding experience and I know who I’ m going to for my cataract surgery. Thank you.

I had a great day with Dr. Barry. I work with physicians regularly and I have a new appreciation for physicians’ time. I was really impressed by the relationship she has with her patients. More than once, the patient said‘ I would do anything for Dr. Barry.’ The way she was able to make the patients feel at ease was amazing. Many of these patients have very long term treatment relationships with Dr. Barry. Watching her do so many things seamlessly at once and on this compressed time frame was just truly impressive. It was really a fascinating experience and I appreciate Dr. Barry and the GLMS for giving me a chance to participate.

I had a great time with Dr. Murphy. I knew nothing about a pain center. I thought about pills and knew there was more to it but didn’ t know what. He encourages people to go to physical therapy. He can do epidurals, massages, all kind of things. It’ s a lot more complex than I expected. People were scared of the stigma of using an opioid. Some were scared of becoming addicted. He would tell them,‘ Trust me, I know what I’ m doing. I’ m trying to improve your quality of life.’ Dr. Murphy was so patient and caring. I appreciate the opportunity to learn something I didn’ t know much about. Thank you.
