level Worksite Wellness Award for our commitment to employee
health and well-being. The Society was one of 30 Louisville Metro
organizations recognized. We were also honored by Business First
with a “Best Places to Work” award.
The GLMS (staff) Employee Wellness & Engagement Committee
created challenges and programs throughout the year focusing on
physical fitness, nutrition and weight management to reach the ul-
timate goal of a healthier workforce. However, we didn’t just make
sure our own staff was healthy. We also worked to provide services
and programs to benefit you, our members, and help you have a
healthier workplace environment.
In 2016, GLMS committed to streamlining our Centralized Ap-
plication Processing Service (CAPS), a program which provides
hospital credentialing to physicians throughout greater Louisville,
surrounding counties and beyond. The credentials verification
process improved somewhat, with the average turnaround time
halved. Yet, we also recognized that there were still significant
hurdles to overcome.
Realizing that the entire credentials verification process was out-
dated and causing problems for our clients, GLMS leaders charged
Dr. Jeffrey Goldberg, former Chief Medical Officer for Jewish
Hospital to completely rebuild the process from the ground up, fully
utilizing technology and applying process improvement to create a
new paperless system that reduces stress on physicians and hospital
clients, and performs faster with great reliability
We also formed a doctor and medical staff filled committee to
communicate directly with the hospital systems. The goal is to
make your credentialing experience the best it can possibly be. The
credentialing process is a vital part of our organization and a major
safeguard in the community.
“We want to take away the stress of credentialing all together,”
said CEO/Executive Vice President Bert Guinn, MBA, CAE. “We’re
examining CAPS from the ground up and determining which
methods work and which do not to make your experience as fast
and headache-free as possible.”
The GLMS Physician Education and Practice Support (PEPS)
Department hosted several interactive roundtables this year which
made it possible for representatives from insurance companies and
Medicaid providers to communicate face-to-face with physicians
and office managers.
PEPS is available throughout the year to ensure that physicians
have proper representation and assistance. If you or a practice you
know is having difficulties, visit www.glms.org and click the “Manage
My Practice” tab to submit a hassle report online. GLMS will work
promptly to help alleviate your concerns.
Sometimes though, the issues facing a practice aren’t simply
found in data management. For example, GLMS continues to offer
