In the 19 years since she arrived in Kentucky , Dr . Coventry has not just written a book , but refined her practice of pathology . The diagnoses and procedures she and her staff practice are extremely varied , including the three afflictions mentioned earlier in this article ( brain tumors , neuroblastoma , Wilms ’ tumors ) as well as soft tissue and bone tumors and leukemia . She is a Fellowship trained renal pathologist and reads kidney biopsies on adluts as well as children . She also practices perinatal pathology involving the examination of placentas , and performs autopsies to boot .
“ One thing that attracted me to pediatric pathology was the wide spectrum . I wanted to stay in a more academic setting , but I also wanted to see a little bit of everything , and I ’ m really able to do that here ,” she said . “ Professionally , I ’ m in a good place . I love the people I work with and the way things are going .”
