t was a rainy November night pulling up to Dr. Bill and Marte
Hoagland’s house in St. Matthews for the Christian Medical and
Dental Associations’ (CMDA) Monday night Bible study. The
driveway was filled with cars and more were branching out into the
cul-de-sac each minute as students continued to arrive.
Inside the cozy house, older physicians and students talked in
small groups. A spread of fresh barbecue covered the kitchen island
and many had already taken places at the wooden dining table in
the next room. Home base for the night would be the living room,
where a sectional sofa and numerous chairs of all colors, shapes
and sizes gave the guests in attendance a semi-circle to discuss
tonight’s Bible passage.
