Do any human beings ever realize life while they live it -every, every minute? -Emily, from Our Town by Thornton Wilder Dear fellow members of the Greater Louisville Medical Society, Time flies. I have always loved the hourglass as a metaphor for life - how each grain of falling sand represents a precious moment we can never get back. For my tenure as president of the Greater Louisville Medical Society, the last grains of time are now falling. I have truly enjoyed every one. I did not want to one day look back, like Thorton Wilder’s Emily, with the realization that I hadn’t appreciated this amazing experience at the time it was happening. Serving as president of this dynamic organization has invigorated me personally and professionally. Being allowed to serve as a leader among Greater Louisville’s revered medical community is the greatest professional honor I have ever been afforded.
