We are bringing much attention to the revitalization of the area by working with downtown business owners and other organizations to achieve this goal. Lenoir City is committed to engagement in responsible development and historic preservation. Over the past 40 years, Lenoir City experienced major growth, both commercial and residential sectors. Lenoir City has taken the essential balance of new growth with historic preservation and recreational opportunities very seriously, understanding that you must put effort toward all of them in order to be a successful community where people want to live, work, and play. Between Grants and other funds, approximately five million dollars has been invested in new pedestrian friendly sidewalks, decorative lighting, and landscaping, as well as façade improvements to any storefronts with owners who are interested. The positive results of these efforts can now be seen as you make your way down Broadway. Lenoir City is strategically positioned near the intersection of interstates 75 and 40 and state scenic Highway 321 runs right through town on its way to the Great Smoky Mountains and Gatlinburg, TN. The Lenoir City Public Works Department has worked diligently making improvements to the Shelters at Lenoir City Park. Lenoir City offers a wide range of recreational opportunities and facilities including a municipal swimming pool, a walking & hiking trail, a 7-acre park with soccer fields, an outdoor basketball court and an all-access playground with a splash pad coming in 2020, as well as special events for every season, such as Rockin’ the Docks, Movies in the Park, various Street Festivals, and the legendary Downtown Christmas Parade.
