 Founded in 1998 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the Loudon County Education Foundation is dedicated to our mis- sion: Investing in education in Loudon County by enriching lifelong learning, encouraging professional development and emphasizing Total LCEF Contributions business and community to Education in Lenoir participation in education. City and Loudon County The Board and staff work to since 2012: ensure the success of this mission 2012 — $62,316 by providing a range of mean- 2013 — $100,025 ingful learning opportunities to 2014 — $114,000 residents of all ages. 2015 — $86,225 With a 25-member board of 2016 — $89,416 directors that meet monthly, the 2017 — $95,543 Foundation has support from 2018 — $93,372 Superintendents from both the 2019 — $82,500 county and city schools as well Total: $723,397 as professionals from all levels of business, industry and commu- nity leaders who provide a unique perspective in the operation of the Foundation.   Young Achievers  The Young Achievers program begins with each homeroom teacher in both the Loudon County and Lenoir City school systems selecting a student that exhibits a dedication for learning and is involved in their community. Out of this group, 20 grade-level winners are chosen and the four Finalists are selected from the group of grade-level winners. Finalists from 5-6 and 7-8 grade levels are submitted to the International Leadership Network and can be winners at a national level.   Outstanding Teacher Awards New and experienced teachers receive outstanding teacher awards, which encourages them to remain in the profession.   Annual Essay Contest Students in grades 3-8 can participate in this contest that helps prepare them for their annual writing assignment.   Encouraging Excellence in Education Awards Celebration Attended by more than 1,200 students, teachers, parents and community members, this event honors our Young Achievers, Essay Contest winners and Outstanding Teachers with a reception and awards ceremony.   Banking on Education This annual event provides the community the opportunity to help support our school systems by funding much needed 16 classroom school supplies. Great Idea! Grants Funds raised in the community support our Great Idea! Classroom grants. All teachers in both school systems have the opportunity to request funds for classroom projects that emphasize state curriculum in ways that engage students to learn. This program provides funds to teachers for projects that are outside the school budget.   Scholarships Scholarship funds are made available through an application process to seniors from Greenback High School, Loudon High School and Lenoir City High School.   Leadership Loudon County The county’s only community-based leadership program. It was created in 1999 to educate and develop current and future leaders. The sessions include tours of several local industries, businesses, tourist attractions and government agencies, plus a visit to Nashville to observe state government in action.   Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library LCEF is the host organization responsible for fund raising for the Imagination Library in Loudon County. Books are provided to Loudon County Students ages 0-5 at no charge to the families. LCEF partners with United Way, Good Neighbors Shoppe, Kiwanis of Tellico Village, Del Conca USA, Governor’s Books From Birth Foundation and individual contributors to raise the $25 per child per year to provide this benefit to Loudon County.
