Although embracing our strong commercial district on
Highway 321, we remain cognizant
of the importance of preserving the
unique history of Downtown
Lenoir City, the place where our
heritage is forever rooted. We are
bringing much attention to the revitalization of the area
by working with downtown business owners
and other organizations to achieve this goal.
Lenoir City is committed to engagement in responsible development and historic preservation.
Over the past 40 years, Lenoir City experienced major
growth, both commercial and residential sectors. Lenoir
City has taken the essential balance of new growth with
historic preservation and recreational opportunities very
seriously, understanding that you must put effort toward
all of them in order to be a successful community where
people want to live, work, and play. Focus on a positive
quality of life is priority one in Lenoir City’s Philosophy.
F
Tony Aikens, Mayor
or the past decade, the City has been
passionate about revitalizing its historic
downtown business district. Between Grants
and other funds, approximately five million
dollars has been invested in new pedestrian
friendly sidewalks, decorative lighting, and
landscaping, as well as façade improvements
to any storefronts with owners who are interested. The positive results of these
efforts can now be seen as you make your way down Broadway.
Lenoir City is strategically positioned near the intersection of
interstates 75 and 40 and state scenic Highway 321 runs right
through town on its way to the Great Smoky Mountains and
Gatlinburg, TN. The Lenoir City Public Works Department has
worked diligently making improvements to the Shelters at
Lenoir City Park. Lenoir City offers a wide range of recreational
opportunities and facilities including a municipal swimming pool,
a walking & hiking trail, a 7-acre park with soccer fields,
an outdoor basketball court and an all-access playground
with a splash pad coming in 2020, as well as special events for
every season, such as Rockin’ the Docks, Movies in the Park,
various Street Festivals, and the legendary Downtown Christmas
Parade.
