Coaxing
lawn
chairs
to
stretch
their
legs
and
hammocks
to
sway
in
half-‐asleep
shut
eyes,
sun
lays
out
sheets
of
warmth
across
the
backyard.
Evening
procrastinates
about
stretching
out
shadows.
By
the
fence,
the
wheelbarrow’s
collected
rain
squiggles
with
mosquito
larvae.
A
pair
of
rabbits’
caution
stops
and
starts
up
the
slope.
They
find
the
clover
patch
by
the
heat
pump.
They
munch
sweetness.
Throwing
caution
aside,
the
smaller
rabbit
scampers
to
the
Boxwood’s
shade.
The
game
is
on.
She
hides.
The
larger
chases.
He
finds.
Breeding
ends
the
day.
