As seen more specifically in Material Expression, the displays have been carefully designed to exhibit very specific information, dedicated to the Square Tower and local maritime history. From following the geometries formed by the roof sculpture, the development of the museum became more refined with the influence of the work of Carlo Scarpa. The displays compliment the contemporary and geometric approach to the museum as well as the existing fabric and artefacts. The displays help communicate the information clearly and cohesively with specific choices of artefacts shown. The simplistic nature of the contemporary interventions draws attention to the information and artefacts being shown. The aim of the displays to encourage visitors to want to find out more and therefore continue on to more of the other attractions along the seafront and the Dockyards. The collaboration with Maritime Archaeology Trust, Nautical Archaeology Society and Historic England provides a new platform for their research to be shown and has the potential for temporary exhibits as their research continues and new wrecks are explored - a reason for visitors to return. 17
