15 MUSEUM DESIGN Initially taking the form of the roof sculpture allowing its geometries to follow through inside the building to emphasise the link between the outside and inside, as if the axis is cutting down through the building. The axis created by the key alignment would inform how the displays take position and shape, layering against each other almost like a collage of information, colour and materials. As the displays develop, they have become more subtle in shape but emphasise materiality and the relationship between existing and new materials. Where the new materials compliment the old, the quality of layering materials as an extension of the building itself works really well to help explore the history of the building and the narrative of the building. The element of wrapping around the building brings the outside in, emphasising the element of time and weathering. The layering of new and existing can only enhance the design of the museum.
