LOS ANGELES FIRM INC MAGAZINE What kind of mark to you want to leave on the art communities worldwide when it’s all said and done? I just want to make people happy, make them smile when they see my work. I hope I can inspire a few people like I’ve been inspired by so many artists. That alone would be a great impact to me. Do you have other interest besides art? Like it or not art is always on my mind and effects all my other interests. I find inspiration in everything from music, reading, video games, theater, and movies. I started doing yoga early last year, so I suppose thats one of the few times my mind is focused on something other than art. I need to focus on staying balanced so I don’t fall on my face. T LIGH P I HILL IEW P THE NTERV I Who are some of the individuals that influenced you as an artist? There are too many for me to list, but some of the artists I always seem to go to for inspiration are Shiyoon Kim, Clio Chiang, Cory Loftis, Kevin Dart, Tadahiro Uesugi, and Robert McGinnis. What are some of the projects you have lined up for the near future? (after April 2016) Well I’m currently working as a Color Stylist on the Mr. Peabody and Sherman Show at Dreamworks TV, so I’m looking forward to the continuation of that. Other than that I made it my goal for this new year to put together my own art book with current finished work and sketches I’ve done. And now since that’s been said and put out into the universe, I better make it happen haha! MARCH / APRIL 2016 How can someone hire you for a project such as an animation movie? Where can our readers catch up with you and view more of you amazing art? Anyone can shoot me an email at [email protected] I have a tumblr where I post most of my finished art work (Philliplight.tumblr.com). On my instagram I post a lot of my sketches, works in progress, everyday life pics, and stupid selfies if you don’t mind that. My handle is @Philliplight. How many major projects have you done throughout the course of your career? I’m still pretty new to the animation industry. Working on The Mr. Peabody & Sherman Show is my first job and I couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to the animation world. What motivates you to keep coming up with this amazing art work from project to project? I’m always in the pursuit of creating something new and exciting. I always want to try and improve upon myself with each project. Its a challenge, but a fun one and that alone makes me motivated from project to project. Describe the feeling you get when others recognize your art work as some of the best in the world? I wouldn’t say I’m the best in the world, I’m always learning and trying to improve myself. But I’m always very happy and grateful when people say they like my work and admire what I do. Its a great feeling knowing that people like what I do and that I’m making even a little bit of difference in peoples’ lives.
