Miraculous the Movie?!
Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir
by Hannah Nguyen
I assume many of you have heard the news. Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir is getting a live-action movie! Jeremy Zag, the producer of Miraculous, announced the exciting news in a tweet on July 25 (which, I might add, is the anniversary for Loquaciousness!).
Miraculous is a show set in modern-day Paris. Marinette, the main protagonist, is secretly one of the city’s superheroes, Ladybug. She saves Paris from Hawk Moth, a villain who uses evil butterflies, called his akumas, to turn people that are experiencing negative emotions into supervillains. Ladybug partners with Cat Noir, who is Adrien (Marinette’s crush!) undercover, to defeat the evil and protect the city.
Thomas Astruc, the creator and writer of the entire series, will also be writing the script
for the movie,
according to Jeremy. Jeremy later posted a teaser poster for the movie on his Instagram, revealing the release date for the movie: 2019.
Although I was super late and only found out about the news a month ago, I was extremely excited when I heard this movie was in the writing process. I’m super curious on what the plot of the movie is about and how it ties back to the original TV show.
I know seems like 2019 is a long time away, but I still love the idea of a Miraculous live-action movie. Imagine a cast that miraculously—see what I did there?—portrays all of the characters. Don’t pretend like you haven’t been putting together your own dream team for the movie!
I’m really wishing
that this doesn’t
turn out
like
the Percy Jackson movies. Let’s not even mention those. The upcoming Miraculous movie has a lot of potential, especially because the fanbase have only been experiencing Marinette and Adrien in cartoon form.
There’s so many possibilities and unanswered questions for the movie. Miraculers, just hold on! I know we’re all bubbling with anticipation, but I promise we’ll make it, and it’ll be worth the wait.
Until then, bug out!
