Hannah to The Maze Runner: James Dashner has not only written The Maze Runner series, but also The Mortality Doctrine and The 13th Reality. All three book series are placed in science fiction worlds. What makes The Maze Runner different from the others, along with additional books in the science fiction genre?
Answer: The plot of The Maze Runner is something that can happen in real life to us today. We are currently facing overpopulation, and it’s possible that a government can create a virus to solve that problem. Any virus can start an outbreak. The Flare can be like the Zika virus, or ebola, except it affects people’s brains and sanity. If that happens, we all know that a government can be corrupt enough to be willing to incorporate a company like W.I.C.K.E.D. to test human beings for a cure. Furthermore, most science fiction novels feature things more of the technical side such as The Mortality Doctrine with advanced technology and video games, whereas The Maze Runner focuses more on the corruption of the government the the biological side of things with the Flare.
