"Fans of the Mortal Instruments series have been waiting for a good adaptation ever since 2013, when the City Of Bones movie came out. Now, their answer lies in the new TV Show...or does it?"

The Mortal Instruments fandom has been waiting for a good book-to-screen adaption for quite a while, and received one in the form of Shadowhunters, a TV Show on Freeform (ABC Family). The first season is currently airing, and a second season has been confirmed. At this moment, ten of the twelve episodes have been aired, and we have quite a good feel of the cast playing the characters.

As a self proclaimed Shadowhunter, I will be reviewing two cast members (Dominic Sherwood as Jace and Kat McNamara as Clary) and how well they play their characters.

(warning, my opinions)

Clary: Kat McNamara

Kat has played fandom roles before, starring in Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials as Sonya. While she is quite a good actress, she is not a perfect mould of Clary. (Not that anyone can be, but whatever.) Kat is sweet and her looks are...too perfect, than the blemished mundane-turned-shadowhunter we are used to from the books. Many people critiqued her performance on the previews (eg: pandemonium), but she does fit into Clary's role quite well, considering that she didn't start reading the books until halfway through filming.

Jace: Dom Sherwood

As with Kat, Dom is a good actor, though he fits into Jace's role even less than Kat into Clary's. I can't place what makes him so different from Jace, but it is apparent whenever he is alone with Clary. People have theorized that since he was only on about City of Ashes (as he only started reading the books halfway through as Kat did) at the time of filming, he still believes that his character is siblings with Clary and plays Jace such. He didn't play Jace as well as Alberto played Simon, but the TV Show overall was better than the 2013 Movie, City of Bones.

So that's what I think about the TV Show! Send me your thoughts, comments, and suggestions at my Google+ profile, +Trini Ashheart! Thank you for reading!
