Episode two of the fourth season of Live On Purpose covers East 185th Street’s Walk n Roll. Walk n Roll is an annual block fair that not only supports local businesses but promotes healthy lifestyles through healthy eating and exercise. A colorful display of community love and support the Walk n Roll fair is a blast offering entertainment such as a drumline and places to stop and shop. Purpose and the crew got to join in on all the fun and interview a few of the local business owners

Purpose talks with local business owner of A Fragrance Just 4 You, Bernard. A Fragrance Just 4 You is store on 185th Street that mainly focuses on selling natural products such as soaps and fragrances but that’s not all Bernard has to offer.

The racks outside the store showcase beautiful African printed shirts that are also some of his creations. Bernard has been in the business for six years and is proud of the clientele he’s managed to build. Small businesses are hard to manage and all of us here at Live On Purpose commend him for his success and wish him a bright future for his store. Stop by A Fragrance

Another business owner Purpose visits with is Barbra Liddell of Bari Beauty & Health Plus. A store geared towards organic products, she sells items such as black soap, shea butter, coconut oil and their very own homemade wine. Barbra notes how health conscious people have become and has made products to help support that. Bari Beauty & Health Plus opened their doors in 2009 and have been in business for about eight years. In the episode Barbra talks about her struggles with the business side of things having had little experience when they first opened. She’s learned a lot and refers to herself as a ‘work in progress but we think she has a lot to be proud of. The store is family owned and operated and located at 637 E 185th St. you won’t regret paying Bari Beauty & Health Plus a visit.

ESOP is a local nonprofit that aims to empower and strengthen the people of Cleveland. During the housing crisis they were there

helping get the community back on their feet and save their houses from foreclosure. They have tons of services and are currently working on a few geared towards senior financial counseling. Visit them at www.esop-cleveland.org if you are ever in need for financial help.

To end the episode, Purpose visits with Annelise, a volunteer for the Ohio City Bike Co-Op and Fouad and Alex the coordinators of Walk n Roll. Annelise teaches handling and peddling skills to many and even demonstrates some of her teachings for the show. Fouad and Alex discuss what inspired them to put together the fair and also share some words of wisdom about what our society has come to today. In a world of screens, very few of us get out and enjoy our communities for what they are. Walk n Roll is an important annual event aiding this community and helping us to get out and get active.
