abilities is a bear trap that you can use to snare other players and his other ability is a concussion trap that not only damages enemies but has a huge knockback effect that launches enemies… and yourself. You can use it to Rocket Jump around a map! Junkrat’s ultimate is his R.I.P Tire, which is a tire saddled with explosives that he drives around the map looking for an enemy team to blast to Kingdom Come. I love his abilities, they’re a blast to use! (that was pretty cheesy, sorry!) My new favorite map is Route 66 we added it really late in the Beta. I love how open the map is. There is a lot of space in the air for flying heroes like Pharah, but there are still a lot of areas that short range heroes like Reaper shine in. Junkrat is soooo fun to play on this map! Q: What is the learning curve like for Overwatch? Is there a character you recommend to new players? A: There is a learning curve to Overwatch but so much of it depends upon your personal gaming experience. I mentioned earlier that Overwatch’s heroes represent a diversity of play styles and roles, each of which feel pretty different from each other. A character like Widowmaker would feel really comfortable to someone that is familiar with playing a sniper in other games. However, if a player was new to FPSes, I would recommend a hero like Winston who doesn’t require precision aiming skills to be effective. and find a few that feel good to them. Try not to focus on only one hero, there are situations in the game where certain heroes can excel over others. Learning which hero to use is part of the depth and strategic complexity of Overwatch. Q: Do you have any plans for future updates or DLC that you’d be willing to share with us? A: We don’t have a specific release schedule, but we’re actively working on new heroes and maps. Right now we’re currently doing development on new heroes and new maps as well as major game systems –we’re in the middle of a major rework to our competitive mode which saw a short release during our closed Beta. Q: Are there any cool characters or maps that didn’t make it into the game in the end? A: One of our maps, Volskaya Industries, started its life as a payload map. However the idea was to make the payload object itself so big that players could actually run around inside of it and fight. We weren’t able to get it to work (I spent months trying) because to make a space large enough for the payload to move through required a level to be so big that many of heroes were no longer viable. Most playtests ended up with 2 teams of 6 Widowmakers! Overwatch is now available on PC, Xbox One and PS4. Pick up a copy and start playing! I would encourage players to experiment with different heroes LOOT GAMING / THE GAME MANUAL 7
