[ RECIPE REMIX | Fat Girl Chronicles]

Is it really October already?!? It seems like yesterday I was making my New Year’s resolution to lose weight for the 20th year running and now the holidays are here - coming fast and furious, one after another with each bringing their own opportunity to EAT!

...and now the holidays are here --

coming fast and furious -- one after another,

with each bringing their own opportunity to EAT!

Let’s make a 4th quarter Holiday Resolution to not be done in by all the delectables being served at family gatherings, house parties, temple functions, and that oh so special place in the office where your co-workers drop off goodies under the guise of sharing is caring, but the truth is they feel better about indulging in that cookie platter if you are too!

This month I am remaking a party favorite and a perfect addition to your brunch or party table – Deviled Eggs. I have always been a big fan of this bite size finger food that reminds me of a crayon drawing of the sun. Though small in size they can pack a calorie punch, which is all owed to the mayo. Simply by swapping out the mayo with a lower calorie option will make this tasty appetizer tummy friendly.

Let’s take a look at the numbers –

Standard Recipe

Makes 8 halves – 90 cals each

4 Large hard boiled eggs – 280 cals

4 Tbsps. Mayonnaise – 400 cals**

1 Tbsp. Honey Mustard – 30 cals.

Salt and pepper to taste; paprika for garnish

** This amount is approx. and can vary based on personal taste
