"A year from now, I'd love to be able to say that we've made some headway

Ms. Miles has some definite goals for the near-term future at JFCS. She says, “We've been working hard to re-brand our marketing materials, and that's helped us start to grow our programs. In terms of sustainability, capitalizing on what we do well, and identifying additional programs that we can offer to organizations in our community that can afford to pay us for our services, which will continue to fund our ability to offer services to individuals on a sliding scale. A year from now, I'd love to be able to say that we've made some headway on some social enterprise types of programs. We want to ready ourselves for slow and meaningful growth, so that we're growing in the right areas, areas that will help our organization, and not just growing to grow.”

and just just growing to grow.."

Ms. Miles is also excited about the re-start of JFCS's Friendly Visitor program. This program represents an opportunity for community volunteers to get involved in the work that the JFCS is doing. Ms. Miles explains, “We are looking for volunteers who have time to go out and visit seniors living at home, or other people who may be suffering from a chronic illnes, who aren't able to get out of the house. We'll provide a whole training program for these new volunteers, and we'll get them all ready to go out and visit people.”

With all that JFCS is doing in and around our community, Kathryn Miles sees still larger goals ahead. “I think there's a huge opportunity for us to get our name out into the Greater Long Beach community.”
