For the seventh year the popular Long Beach Jewish Film Festival will take over the community calendar from Wednesday, October 22 through Sunday, October 26, with five outstanding films-- one from America, several from Israel, one from Poland, and one from Argentina. All will be shown in the Lipeles Auditorium in the Alpert Jewish Community Center on Willow Street in Long Beach.
The Outrageous Sophie Tucker opens the Long Beach Jewish Film Festival
The opening film of the series, on the life of the famous “red, hot momma” and vaudeville queen, Sophie Tucker, will be a combined event with the Long Beach Jewish Film Festival to be preceded by a kosher hors d’oeuvres buffet at 6 p.m. hosted by the Jewish Federation for those who have made their contribution to the Annual Community Campaign. Donors will receive a free ticket with each pledge.
