The Advice Centre offers FREE consultations with experts from Homebuilding & Renovating— as well as special guest advisors.
Topics covered include everything from planning, plot finding, finance management, home design, extensions, renovation, sustainable materials, and energy-efficient construction to self-building.
Consultations last 15 minutes and must be booked at The Advice Centre on the day— please book as soon as you arrive to avoid disappointment.
Allan Corfield Design Expert, Homebuilding & Renovating
Allan Corfield is the Self Build Mentor, offering independent one-to-one guidance to selfbuilders.
An award-winning RIBA Chartered Architect, he has overseen the design of over 650 lowenergy homes and founded AC Architects in 2009. He sits on the board of NaCSBA and writes a monthly column for Homebuilding & Renovating Magazine.
Andy Stevens Builder & Broadcaster
Andy joined the construction industry as a labourer in the late 80s. Since then, he has become an award-winning builder and broadcaster. After developing properties for many years, he ran a hugely successful building company, picking up many awards for their craftsmanship. Over the last decade, he has worked in the media across TV, radio, magazines and exhibitions. Charlie Nelson Garden and Landscape Designer
Charlie is a garden and landscape designer, specialising in the space between design and delivery. Trained at the London College of Garden Design at Kew, he combines design knowledge with practical expertise in construction, detailing and delivering complex residential gardens through work with HCL and numerous top garden designers, including Lucy Willcox, Sheila Jack, Imogen Perreau and Charlotte Rowe.
David Hilton Eco Expert, Homebuilding & Renovating
David has grown up with energy efficient design, heating systems and renewables. His family owned a business in South Africa manufacturing Solar systems and Air source heat pumps from 1979. David is a regular contributor to Homebuilding and Renovating Magazine and has an MA in Sustainable Architecture, is a Gassafe renewables and ventilation installer, and has over 35 years experience in the industry.
